Benjamin Sharp

Benjamin Sharp is an accomplished cellist and educator based in Asheville, NC. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and is a licensed K–12 public school music teacher who has taught at several schools throughout the Asheville area.

 

As an educator, Benjamin enjoys working with students of all ages and skill levels. He strives to help students develop strong musical foundations, play with confidence, and discover the love and enjoyment that comes from making music. His students have gone on to receive college scholarships, participate in honors orchestra clinics, and earn Superior ratings at Music Performance Adjudication (MPA).

 

Benjamin regularly performs as a cellist with chamber ensembles and orchestras throughout North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina. He especially enjoys performing in pit orchestras for ballet and musical theatre productions. He has collaborated with HART Theatre, Asheville Community Theatre, Western Carolina University Theatre, Greensboro Repertory Theatre, and performed as a principal cellist with the South Carolina Ballet. He was a section cellist with the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra during the 2021–2022 season.

 

Outside of music, Benjamin enjoys snowboarding, biking, and spending time with friends and family.
