Joe Higginbotham
Classical Guitar Faculty

Joe Higginbotham holds a Bachelor of Music from Emporia State University, and a Master of
Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in classical guitar performance from Arizona State University.
Joe’s primary teacher at ASU was Frank Koonce, a renowned scholar on the music of Bach.

 

Joe was a graduate teaching assistant at ASU, nominated for a Teaching Excellence Award,
and performed with the ASU Wind Symphony. After the DMA was complete, Joe was a founding
member of a copyright licensing agency that helps school ensembles obtain various music
copyright licenses to aid in recording, arranging, and performance. Joe now resides in Asheville,
NC with his wife Jean, and their daughter Dorothy.
