Michael DiTrolio
String Bass Faculty

Michael Di Trolio is a member of Asheville Symphony, Roanoke Symphony and Opera, and Western Piedmont Symphony.  He has held the positions of Principal Bass with Paradise Symphony (CA) and Associate Principal Bass with the Fayetteville Symphony (NC).  He regularly appears with other orchestras throughout the Southeastern United States. His chamber music activities have included performances with Charleston Symphony and Asheville Symphony’s educational outreach string quintet. In 2008 Michael was invited to play as Guest Principal Bass with the Amman Symphony in Jordan.  


Michael holds a Masters Degree in Double Bass performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is an alumnus of the Brevard Music Center.  He counts Craig Brown and Kevin Casseday as his principal teachers. He has also studied with Charlie Haden, Steven Tramontozzi [San Francisco Symphony], and Tom Derthick [University of California Davis].
